Ayurvedic massages: treatment Ayurveda-style

The Sanskrit word "ayurveda" means "life" (AYU) and "knowledge" (VEDA)

AyurvedaAyurveda is a system which helps to maintain health by using the principles inherent in nature in order to bring man towards his true self.

The body is composed of five primary elements, which make up the entire universe:

  • Ether,
  • Air,
  • Fire,
  • Water and
  • Earth.

The composition of these elements depends on each individual.

The individual constitution is made up of three doshas :

  • VATA,
  • PITTA,
  • KAPHA.

Each person has their own proportions of Vata, Pitta, Kapha.

Ayurveda offers a model for seeing each person as a unique being and for creating a treatment plan conceived according to the state of health of the individual.

It suggests a lifestyle, a nutrition guide that helps us to rediscover the correct balance.

Massages represent the most important tool of Ayurveda.

These ayurvedic massages revitalise and harmonise the physical as much as the psychic body:

  • Purification of the body,
  • Facilitation of the circulation of the vital energy (prana),
  • Elimination of blockages and
  • Regeneration of cells thanks to this process of removal of toxins.
  • Rebalancing of the doshas

Massage with hot stones: an ancestral technique

Knowledge grew up in several cultures around the world.

Hot stones"Health is not only the absence of illness
Health has been inscribed in the me.
Health is the dynamic expression of life."

Sri Sri Ravishankar

We use hot basalt stones or volcanic stones, polished naturally by water.

As they were born at the heart of volcanoes, they keep the imprint of the fire, which is why they are appropriate for this type of massage.

With slow movements and pressure, a laying on of stones at suitable spots, such as :

  • the palm of the hands,
  • along the spinal column,
  • on the chakras,
  • with warm oil,
  • with essential oils,
  • with crystals.

You will achieve deep relaxation and incredible well-being. Massage with hot stones is a union between the energy force of the stones, their heat and their softness and the masseur.

Ortho-bionomy: the method of Dr Arthur Lincoln Pauls, osteopath

"Ortho" means "correct" and "bionomy", the "laws of life".

The laws of life are movement, evolution and mobility. Illnesses are states of rigidity, created by mental stress coming from the ego.

We've all learnt to respect others, but do we know how to respect ourselves?

The method consists of :

  • perceiving and recognizing the message given by the body through its tensions and its energy imbalances.
  • allowing the patient to identify their own tensions.
  • encouraging the opening up of the individual to a possible change, by stimulating the self-corrective reflexes of the body.

This method allows the contacting of deep capacities for the self-regulation of the organism and of developing a better understanding of self.

These things often find themselves blocked as a result of various circumstances, such as :

  • poor posture repeated in daily life, especially at work
  • temperamental and emotional problems. - traumas of various origins.
